To provide the participant with the required knowledge to assist clients with Self Medication:

• Role and responsibilities of PCA
• Storage and handling of medications within the legal framework and current guidelines
• Medication Documentation and Recording requirements.
• Learn about commonly used medications
• Medical Terminology
• Polypharmacy
• Adverse reactions and side effects.
• Learn about Body System
• and much more…

Pre-Requisites

1. A written/online application form
2. A language literacy and numeracy assessment
3. To be eligible to do the unit Assist client with medication(CHCCS305B), you will need to complete the unit Recognise Healthy Body System (HTLAP301B) in prior
4. Completed ‘Request for Support from Work Place’ form

Learning & Delivery Mode

Students have to do readings and assignments 7-14 days before the actual day of the course. There is a one day for practical in our offices, and comprises of classroom based learning and demonstration which usually done on Friday or Saturday. On Successful completion of the course, students will receive a Certificate of attainment:

• Assist Clients with Medication (CHCCS305B)
• Recognise healthy body systems in a health care context (HLTAP301B)

  (Please note HLTAP301B will only be included on the certificate if completed at the same time as CHCCS305B i.e. student has paid $350 to complete both units)

Assessments

Assessments you will need to do in order to be competent are:

1. Short questions
2. Case studies
3. Practical observation
4. Simulation
5. Portfolio

Procedure for Completing units in:

---

Both HLTAP301B and CHCCS305B

Student completes enrolment Student given ‘Letter of Support’ from workplace to be returned to Job Training Institute prior to attending classroom training Students given access, either online or hard copy of both units Student must book in date for classroom training Student must submit HLTAP301B prior to classroom training for marking Please note – Students will not be eligible to participate in classroom training for CHCCS305B until HLTAP301B is marked satisfactory and ‘Letter of Support’ is signed and returned Student attends classroom training for CHCCS305B and is given ‘Work based Observation’ Student organises time for workplace observations to be conducted Observations take place, with or without trainer from Job Training Institute, depending on work place requirements

Student completes enrolment Student must produce evidence of satisfactory completion of HLTAP301B Student given ‘Letter of Support’ from workplace, to be returned to Job Training Institute prior to attending classroom training Students given access to CHCCS305B online or hard copy Student must book in date for classroom training Please note – Students will not be eligible to participate in classroom training for CHCCS305B until evidence of completion of HLTAP301B and ‘Letter of Support’ are produced Student attends classroom training for CHCCS305B and is given ‘Work based Observation’ to be completed Student organises time for workplace observations to be conducted Observations take place, with or without trainer from Job Training Institute, depending on work place requirements or as arranged with Job Training Institute Student returns workbook for CHCCS305B for marking and completed ‘Work Based Observation’ Student is issued with certificate

Important points to remember

1. Students who are not already employed are not eligible to complete this short course with Job Training Institute
2. Classroom training is a compulsory component of this course
3. Work based observation is a compulsory component of this course (this will be conducted on more than one occasion or at the trainers discretion)
4. For successful completion of this short course, Job Training Institute must have the following completed documents : Units (workbooks) CHCCS305B and HLTAP301B, Request for Support from Workplace letter and Work Place Observation
