Overview

This qualification reflects the role of educators in early childhood education and care who work in regulated children’s education and care services in Australia. Educators at this level are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum that meets the requirements of an approved learning framework and for maintaining compliance in other areas of service operations. They use specialised knowledge and analyse and apply theoretical concepts to diverse work situations. They may have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other educators.

Early childhood educators work in long day care centres, family day care, pre-schools or kindergartens.

To achieve this qualification, the individual must have completed at least 280 hours of work in a regulated children’s education and care service in Australia as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency.

This qualification prepares students to work as professional educators in regulated early childhood education and care services in Australia. Students learn how to design and implement curriculum that supports children’s learning, wellbeing, and development in line with the approved learning frameworks. Diploma-qualified educators use specialized knowledge to make informed decisions in diverse workplace situations and may be responsible for supervising others.

To enroll in this course, applicants should submit:

  • Completed and signed 'International Student Application Form'
  • Certified transcripts of all academic achievements, including secondary school education
  • Certified evidence of date of birth/Passport
  • Certified evidence of English language proficiency
  • Submit evidence that meets the Genuine Temporary Entrant criteria (Only for Offshore Applications)

Assessment Methods: Written Assessments, Case Studies/Scenarios, Research Projects/Plans, Simulations/Role Play, Reflective Practice, Performance Feedback, Third Party Observation, Work Placement Tasks.

At Job Training Institute (JTI), our CRICOS-registered courses are delivered through 20 hours of structured, face-to-face instruction per week at our City campus. Delivery is supported by interactive activities, practical sessions, and limited online components.

This delivery model complies with:

  • Standards for RTOs 2015 (Clauses 1.2 and 1.3)
  • ESOS Act 2000 and National Code 2018 (Standard 7)
  • CRICOS registration requirements

Students’ learning is further supported with resources, practical exercises, and guidance to facilitate competency achievement in line with ASQA and CRICOS obligations.

To successfully complete this qualification, students must complete a minimum of 280 hours of vocational placement in a regulated early childhood education and care service in Australia. These hours allow students to demonstrate competence in real workplace environments as required by the national training package.

Additional Work Placement Requirements:

  • National Police Check (issued within the last 12 months)
  • Working with Children Check
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate (minimum two doses)
  • Flu Vaccination Certificate (Yearly required)

JTI does not guarantee the following:

  • That a learner will successfully complete a training product on our scope of registration. Learners need to put effort in their study and completion of assignments, and JTI will provide the trainers and required resources to enable the learner to successfully complete their study.
  • A training product can be completed in a manner which does not meet the requirements of clause 1.1 and 1.2 of VET Standards 2015, e.g. in a shorter period of time than the AQF specifications.
  • A learner will obtain a particular employment outcome where this is outside the control of JTI. JTI is a training organisation and has no control of employment outcomes.

  • The course is delivered in line with ASQA Standards for RTOs 2015, the ESOS Act 2000, and the National Code 2018 to ensure international students receive high-quality education and support.
  • Students are informed of their rights, responsibilities, and support services in accordance with CRICOS obligations.
